Story
Josie Horton, our Judo coach, who has worked at The Hawthorns School for fifteen years and represented Great Britain at Judo in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, suffered a very serious accident on 26th February in London. Josie became entangled with a bus and was run over. This accident resulted in her having to have the lower part of her left leg immediately amputated.
Fortunately, Josie is in excellent care now. Thanks to the sensible actions of her partner, the expertise of medics at the Royal London Hospital and a positive mind-set, Josie is now making her recovery.
As a way of helping Josie in her rehabilitation, we have decided to help raise money for her to buy a prosthetic leg. The best legs are not cheap so we wish to raise £15,000 to help Josie regain the best mobility and with any additional monies support Limbpower, a local charity based in Oxted.
As well as asking for donations from the parent body, the school is also organising a sponsored Fun Run on Saturday 7th May to help raise funds for this initiative.
Any donations for this worthwhile cause will be hugely appreciated.
