    Story

Bob is a fun loving dog, a real character, everyone he meets loves him straight away. But he hasn't always been that way. And now he needs your help to literally get back on his feet!

Bob was rescued after spending 10 years as a street dog. He has scars from being beaten and attacked by other dogs. Every day he was fighting just to survive. He came to the UK for a better life, but that didn't happen either. Bob's new family neglected him; he got old, fat and sick. And then they didn't want him anymore. We heard about Bob and instantly wanted to help him. When we first saw him, we had a real shock. He was over 5 stone (twice the weight a beagle should be) and could barely move. He was covered in scabs from a skin condition, his ears were black and crusty, his eyes droopy and red. Bob didn't even look at us...he had given up. We made a promise to him that day that we would love and cherish him. Forever.

Fast forward 18 months and after lot of very hard work, a good diet, plenty of exercise, love, tears and a fortune in vets bills, Bob was quite literally a new dog. The change was so dramatic he even made it on to national TV! Bob is a joy, a bouncy, happy, playful, loving dog. This should have been Bob's happy ending...but it wasn't to be.
Last week, Bob was out in the fields running around like a loony without a care in the world when he suddenly fell down and screamed in pain. He had torn his cruciate ligament in his back left leg. Years of living rough and then being overweight had taken its toll on his aging joints. He cannot walk properly and he needs expensive knee surgery, xrays and medication to help him get his 'bounce' back. We couldn't get insurance for Bob because of his age and health. We spend all we have looking after our 15 rescue animals. Now we need your help. We will do anything to give Bob one last chance at a happy life. He brings joy to everyone around him, now it's his turn. Pleae give what you can and share Bob's page. Thank you.

Hi Everyone! Bob has been to see the surgeon and now has a date for the op...Tuesday 2nd August :( it's major surgery and he will be feeling very poorly so do excuse me if he it goes a bit quiet next week...we will be looking after our lovely boy. We won't find out the cost until the day as it depends on how long it takes them, but it is around £1800-2000. His consultation with the specialist was £90 and we have already spent £478 so far on his pain medication, consultations and x-rays...really need every penny we can get now for our boy :'(

Thank you to everyone who has donated...Bob sends his love!!! Only a few weeks now until Bob's surgery, I am dreading it and looking forward to it at the same time. It's a lot for a boy his age, but I can't wait to have my baby back to his normal self, not howling and sulking and being sad :'( I can't wait to see him back out on his walks that he loves so much, lying in the garden, climbing the stairs and poking his nose over the edge of the bed on a saturday morning when we dared to sleep in!!! I miss all that and I know he does too :'( xx
