Story
Over 3000 refugees from war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, and Eritrea, amongst others, are camped in makeshift shelters In Calais, surviving in what can only be described as appalling conditions. It's cold, wet and there is much need for warmth and sustenance. Firewood is scarce and cooking is very difficult, especially as the weather gets colder. We want to build large rocket stoves and hay boxes to keep people fed as well as provide clothing, shoes, and toiletries..

9 years agoDear Supporter, Thank you ever so much for your donation to the Calais refugee fund! It's been a hugely successful campaign and we've reached 446% of our original target! We will be travelling to Calais on the 30th of September with all the donations we have collected (we have been inundated) and with 30 rocket stoves, along with hay bags for keeping hot food hot. We gained a fair amount of local news coverage from BBC radio cambs to the Peterborough Telegraph. Look out for the history of the trip on Anglia News at the start of October too. As you may be aware things have taken a turn for the worse in Calais recently and help is needed more than ever. So again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help. The people on the camp will have a much more comfortable autumn/winter thanks to you. Much love and respect, Jay & Sophie
