    Story

    I'm one of the team working at Galanos House, Warwickshire, a Royal British Legion residential home with a special interest in supporting individuals who have dementia. I'd love to raise a bit of money to support our continuing work there, using it for equipment and facilities to enhance the lives of the residents and others who make use of the home.

    I'll be walking across the south-west peninsula isthmus - the neck of land between the English Channel and the Bristol Channel - about 50 miles over a few days - using footpaths, tracks and minor roads. I'll be carrying just a bit of food and water, a toothbrush, a change of clothes, and relying on finding accomodation as I go. It should be interesting!

    How to make a donation:

    * hand it directly in at the reception of Galanos House
    * post to "Isthmus Challenge, Galanos House, Southam, CV47 2BL"
    * using this JustGiving page

    I'll announce the combined final total here and on the Galanos House Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/513319695521560, where you can also follow my progress) on 8th July.

    Whether you are able to donate or not, thank you for visiting my page.

      Did it! Starting at Axminster at 13:00 on the 20th, walking to Beer, then to the south coast on the 21st, across much of the peninsula on the 22nd (40 miles in one day!) and to the north coast on the 23rd at 18:00. Incredibly painful on the feet at times, but pleased to have done this, and extremely grateful to all who have made their kind donations to the Amenities Fund. Look forward to doing a talk/chat about the walk at Galanos - watch the Facebook page. Jonathan.

    In the last week of June I'm walking 50 miles from the English Channel to the Bristol Channel (the south-west peninsula 'isthmus'), through Dorset, Devon and Somerset, with only a backpack, change of clothes and a toothbrush, raising money for the Galanos House Amenities Fund.
