    Story

In early 2015, a young woman who's identity must be kept anonymous - let's call her Jane - was tricked and taken from her home and illegally trafficked from Africa to the UK. Jane had been a victim of human trafficking - but was rescued by police and taken to a safe house through the Salvation Army. She had just left the safe house and was truly starting to flourish. She had turned from a cowering and scared young girl who couldn't even look you in the eye, in to a fun loving, story-telling confident young lady. We met Jane over a year ago and have seen this amazing transformation through Roseannah's own project to employ and empower survivors of human trafficking in the UK and abroad.

Jane, although troubled from her past, came out of her shell and started to build a new life for herself with the help from Roseannah and fellow survivors. She wanted to be a jewellery designer, and loved fashion.

However, in March 2016, Jane was found by her traffickers and taken out of the country in the middle of the night - blackmailed by threats to hurt her family back in Africa if she tried to escape. Although leads have sprung up - none have yet paid off - and Jane remains missing.

The real tragedy of this situation is that it could have been averted, with more time, resources and funds. This is where the NOT FOR SALE campaign comes in. With your help - we can release enough staff and implement the safety measures necessary to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. And it's not too late for Jane. More funding would allow us to invest more resources and we are confident that the police will find and rescue Jane.

It's not just about funding! We are looking to expand awareness of trafficking - with as many as 800,000 people being trafficked every year, with the vast majority of these being women and children. So please do share, like, retweet and favourite our campaign messages. Together we can declare people are NOT FOR SALE. #ImNotForSale
