50:50 Parliament have been invited to some amazing events in the Autumn and is fundraising for fantastic new promotional materials to get our important message out. We need new banners, placards, leaflets, wristbands so we can be loud and proud for better gender balance at Westminster!

Theresa May is Prime Minister but of our 650 MPs only 192 are women and 458 are men. There have only ever been 451 women MPs, so there are still more men in Parliament than there have EVER been women. There are 140% more men than women in the House of Commons and the discrepancy in the Lords is even worse.

50:50 Parliament is campaigning for solutions to this historic, democratic deficit. We want better gender balance at Westminster, one way or another, sooner rather than later. Parliament should draw upon the widest possible pool of talent and experience, including the 32 million UK women. If it is inaccessible to the majority that are women many others must (and do) face barriers too.

We want men and women to run the country and plan our future together, in more equal numbers. Why? Because “We know that when women are in parliament…it builds more resilient, responsive, better informed institutions.” Professor Ngaire Woods, Oxford University.

50:50 Parliament is supported by people from all over the UK. We are asking Parliament to sort this situation out. We have a petition at change.org/5050Parliament and recently launched an Ambassador Programme to inspire interest and encourage engagement with politics.

We need funds to help raise awareness, run the Ambassador Programme and generate enthusiasm and support.

Nearly 100 years after women won the right to vote please contribute to our campaign for a more inclusive, gender balanced Parliament.

This is a democratic imperative.

Westminster, the "Mother of Parliaments" should be leading the way!
