    Story

The Idea. This summer Ashleigh Richardson - a 21 year old gap year teacher at Hazlegrove Prep School in Somerset - will fundraise for Magazine Wharf Kids while walking the 500 mile 'Camino', an historical pilgrimage trail that runs from St Jean de Pied de Port in France to the tomb of St James in Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain. She expects the walk to take her between 40 and 45 days.

About Ashleigh. Ashleigh is from Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. After two years of studying for a degree in education she decided to take a year out in order to gain practical experience teaching at Hazlegrove. A lover of the great outdoors, and with an eagerness to challenge herself physically, mentally and spiritually, she is finishing her year in the UK undertaking this amazing endeavour while raising money to fund the university education of Yeanoh Mansaray, an inspirational 18 year old girl from Magazine Wharf in Freetown, an incredibly disadvantaged area. About Yeanoh. Yeanoh has been supported by Magazine Wharf Kids since early 2016. She comes from a very poor but wonderfully hardworking family in the heart of Magazine Wharf - an area ravaged by the ebola crisis from 2014 to 2015. Yeanoh expects to study engineering at Fourah Bay College in Freetown. Given the circumstances of her family, she will be funded almost completely by a grant from Magazine Wharf Kids.

About Magazine Wharf Kids. Magazine Wharf Kids was set up in the summer of 2015 by the then UK military commander deployed in Sierra Leone as part of the international response to the ebola crisis. The primary aim of the charity is to fund the education of children and young people affected by ebola in the Magazine Wharf area of Freetown - a particularly disadvantaged area that was desperately affected by ebola in 2014 and 2015.

Thank you for supporting us. Your contribution makes a very profound difference to the lives of these kids.
