    Story

At Fairfield High School for Girls we recently introduced Pledges as a way of recognising what girls contribute to our school community and to give them the opportunity to do more. Pledges are a way of expanding the learning and experiences of the girls, giving them more opportunities to develop their own growth mind-set.

I have committed to my own Pledge this summer, to walk the Inca Trail. I intend to use my Pledge as an opportunity to raise money for breast cancer research, to provide educational opportunities for girls in less economically developed parts of the world and to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK and worldwide. Poverty is sexist, and unlike at Fairfield, girls in other parts of the world do not get the opportunities they deserve. The last charity speaks for itself. I hope my Pledge will raise resources and awareness for these three very worthwhile causes. Any donation, however large, or small, will be gratefully received.

    Thank you.

What a fabulous thing you are doing for such wonderful causes. My mum suffered from breast cancer at a very early age, but she was fortunate enough to survive and is still with us today. Good Luck!!
