The Brockley Street Art Festival is an exciting annual initiative working to improve the appearance of the Brockley area through the creation of stunning murals along the Brockley Corridor and throughout the neighbourhood.

Last year the festival generated more than twenty-five murals in the Brockley area and a week of workshops and events. We were well resourced and organised, with backing from The Londonist, support from Global Street Art and funding from Lewisham council and individual donors.

However, the amount of work required by unpaid volunteers was such last year, that we have decided this year to put on a much smaller, scaled-back event with the modest aim of generating a handful of murals in the area.

It will run from May 27th - June 4th and will be largely artist led and run. Some of south London's best street artists - Lionel Stanhope, Artmongers, Butch Attai and Bambopink among them - are involved again, returning to produce new art and curate the event. They were same artists behind two high impact mural projects in Crofton Park and Ladywell that followed the festival last year.

The feedback from all the communities involved has been overwhelmingly positive, with a lot of excitement in the neighbourhoods and on social media.

To make sure we can deliver the event, we are seeking to raise the funds to cover paint and materials - hire of a cherry picker and other equipment and some additional money to pay for the domain of the Brockley Street Art Festival website.

All the organisers of this event are giving their time for free.
