    Story

On 10/07/2016 Christian Palmer was sadly taken away from us after falling in to the River Ouse.

Chris was cherished and appreciated by so many people, he brought happiness with him no matter where he went. His heart of gold will be something we will all remember Chris for, his generosity and compassion towards his friends and family was phenomenal and it's reasons like that we will always keep Chris so close to our hearts. We all have our individual memories of Chris that we will cherish and laugh about, he is missed greatly by many but he will be watching over us happy to have the support him and his family are getting.

Chris is amongst many who have had their lives stolen in the River Ouse, to commemorate Chris I want to raise £800 to be able to fund a memorial bench to be placed in York. The bench will be provided by The City Of York Council and funded using £500 of the donations. From this point any other donations will be sent to Chris's family to support them during this difficult time.

After we hit the target my next steps from there will be trying to ensure some safety around the bridges and river get puts into place, whilst also raising awareness about the dangers of being close to the river. My thoughts behind this are limited to what the Council are able to do in the city, so any suggestions such as lights on the archway of the bridges and signage around the river will be taken on board and appreciated.

Please donate generously to this cause, together we can raise awareness and protect any others losing their lives.

    Thank you,
    Jae Beavers

      Update from the Page owner

We've done it! Big thank you to all those who have contributed towards getting Chris's memorial bench put into place, together we've smashed it! Just a quick update so far (I will post on Facebook once I know more) Chris' bench and plaque have been delivered, I'm currently chasing the parks and open spaces team trying to find a set up date! From here I will arrange a time for everyone to come down together for it's unveiling, there will be a collection bucket for the boat rescue service for any additional donations. -Jae

Never knew the lad but I was in York on the Sunday he was recovered. To think you can be celebrating one minute then gone the next. From what I've read he was a great lad, my condolences, RIP Chris.
