Story
As a parent of two children I am always grateful of the amazing and truly magnificent work of the Sheffield Childrens Hospital. We are so lucky to have this amazing organisation in our great city of Sheffield.
In tribute to Sheffield and its people the people at Sheffield Childrens
Hospital has initiated the 'Herd of Sheffield"
During 2016 a herd of elephant sculptures will descend on Sheffield for the biggest public art event the city has ever seen!
It hopes to bring together artists, businesses, groups and communities to host the Herd of Sheffield – a sculpture trail of more than 40 beautiful and bespoke painted elephants, and Bond Bryan Architects has agreed to help. This exciting Wild in Art event brought to you by The Children’s Hospital Charity and it is hoped it will:
* Unite our city – bringing business, communities, artists, individuals and schools together to create a FREE sculpture trail which is accessible to all.
* Attract more visitors – both nationally and regionally as well as encouraging thousands of people to become a tourist in their own city.
* Invest in the future – with a city wide education programme that can be used for years to come whilst leaving a lasting legacy for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
* Showcase our city – celebrating Sheffield’s heritage and cementing our status as a vibrant and culturally exciting city through this world-class initiative.
* Raise profile and increase visibility – for the city and all involved in the project.
A number of us have volunteered to don the lycra and ride the Way of the Roses, a 170 mile route which takes us from the West coast of England (Morecambe) to the East Coast (Bridlington), through historic cities York and Lancaster, and lesser known gems such as Settle, Pateley Bridge and Ripon.

8 years agoWell the physio is starting to work. I am ashamed to say I found myself walking for a limp out of habit! Looks like the excuse is coming to an end:)

8 years agoThank you to those who have already sponsored me. I am itching to get on my bike, but senses prevailed and I should continue to let me knee mend. Dan, my son who is also undertaking this event managed to clock up a few miles yesterday. Frustratingly, he looked as well after the ride as he did before!

8 years agoMy training has been dealt a severe set back due to being knocked off my bike by a hit and run car. I was up to 36miles in one stint, however i will need to be back up to this level as soon as possible to het the 170 miles in 3 days in September!
