    Story

We at St John's Catholic Comprehensive School are currently undertaking a charity cycle ride. We have 12 6th form students and 6 staff members riding the 90 mile distance from the memorial on Clarence Place in Gravesend to the Menin Gate in Ypres, this is to commemorate those that paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Great War and to raise £3,500 for Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.

As part of the Great War Centenary Commemorations St John’s has been publishing biographies on the fallen of Gravesend. The project has brought home to us the suffering and loss to families and survivors. We would. therefore, also like to commemorate service men and women who have been affected by conflicts past and present and with this in mind we are undertaking a sponsored bike ride from Gravesend to Ypres with the money raised going to RBL and Help for Heroes.

The cycle ride shall be taking place from the 2nd of July to the 4rd of July.

The donations received from this site shall be gathered up with what the students and staff raise from donations on the ride as well as other events held in the school.
