Story
Hi I’m Rebecca, and I volunteered at Micro Quips in Ghana, this summer. They’re a charity providing financial services to women small-business owners, enabling traders to expand or start from scratch. They do an incredible job but they need your help! Read on to find out more:
We are MicroQuips, a micro-financing non-profit based in Ghana. We want to raise £600 to fund a women’s skills workshop, teaching soap making and bead art to women in a small community at Darmang in Ghana. This would give women valuable skills, enabling them to set up independent businesses as traders in soap products and decorated beaded fashions.
This project is vital to furthering women’s economic independence and providing them with skills which promote self reliance and business acumen. Poverty in female headed households stands at 19% in Ghana. Our workshops aim to alleviate poverty for women in this group, by giving them the necessary skills to compete in Ghana’s fast growing economy.
The money will be spent on the cost of a skills trainer, soap making ingredients and tools, beads and fashions to be decorated and catering for 30+ participants.
Donate what you can to this important project shaping a community's future!
