Helen Ritson was an active member of Sutton & District Athletic Club (SADAC) until she passed away in November 2002. SADAC established the Helen Ritson Fund in her memory to help young athletes achieve their ambitions, by helping fund equipment, coaching, travel and physiotherapy. Whilst with the club she won 7 Surrey County medals ( 3 gold, 3 silver and a bronze) in javelin, 1500m and cross country. She broke the county record in U13 javelin in 1998 with a throw of 27.11m. She won the prize for best U13girls performance at the County Championship. She also won the U13 Surrey Ladies Cross Country Competition in 1999-2000 winning all four of the qualifying races, again a record.

Running is a huge part of my life and a way I can give back to the community as well. I am a firm believer in races that benefit charities and I am always eager to donate to my friends who are running for a reason. In 2013 I ran for Team Fox (The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson ’s disease) and loved participating for such a fantastic organization. Now I am looking forward to running London 2016 for Sutton & District and I hope to fundraise as much as I can for such a great athletic club!
