Story
The pool is in desperate need of some tender loving care and we plan to raise enough money to tackle the refurbishments over the summer break. This will include replacing a number of tiles and re-grouting the pool, a deep clean, redecoration and resurfacing the area around the pool. We are also aiming to raise some money to have the pool deepened by around 40cm. This will involve raising the sides of the pool.
The swimming pool at Moordown St John’s was opened in February 1969 and has been providing swimming lessons to children and adults ever since. The pool is used by a number of local primary schools, swimming clubs and groups and sees around 700 swimmers each week. The pool is a massive asset to our school and the local community.
We hope to have the work done over the summer holidays to minimise the disruption to swimming lessons. We hope to reopen the pool at the beginning of the Autumn term.
The cost of raising the pool is where the majority of the budget will be spent. The surrounding surface of the pool will be covered in a modern resin and a number of tiles in the pool will be replaced and re-grouted. The pool will undergo a deep clean and redecoration.
