It’s not very often a plastic cow is described as an iconic work of art... but Moolissa really is an exception.
Farnborough College of Technology’s Design students were given the honour of being asked to create a design for a life sized resin model as part of the ‘CowParade’ charity event.
Organisations are sponsoring cows which they are decorating to raise money by auctioning them off for the Surrey Hills Trust Fund and their own individually nominated charities.
We want to bring Moolissa back home to Farnborough where we hope she will become a local icon.
But we need the community's help to do it. Moolissa is going up for auction on September 3 and we want to bid to get her back. The reserve price will be around £5,000. But all funds raised will be donated to our nominated charity 'Oakleaf' which supports people with severe mental health conditions and the Surrey Hills Trust Fund - the main organiser of the CowParade event.
Moolissa is currently on display at The Friary shopping centre in Guildford – one of the main sponsors of the event. Head of Media and Creative Arts Lawrence Magee said: “Our students became really emotionally attached to Moolissa during her creation. It would be so thrilling if we could raise enough money to bring her back to her spiritual home at the college.
"We hope she will become a Farnborough icon. Students and staff will be digging deep but we are hoping the community will help us achieve our aim to bring her home."
