    Story

    Welcome to Project 4Tune!

At Project 4Tune, our ethos is simple: No young person should suffer disparagement in the arts due to their social background or personal financial disadvantages. We wish to offer young people in the deprived Sandwell area of the West Midlands, who otherwise could not afford such an opportunity, the chance to learn a musical instrument and study music and art under the guidance of qualified, professional and accomplished musicians and artists. As is becoming increasingly apparent through psychological research, a well-rounded artistic education has the opportunity to not only enhance a person’s artistic skill, but presents an experience whereby young people can drastically enhance their cognitive function for all manner of academic and life skills. In turn, this helps to increase their self-confidence, boost their sense of well-being and instil a sense of personal accomplishment and pride. We would therefore expect those who come to us to not only benefit within the confines of our musical facilities, but to take these benefits into other areas of their lives (school, home, social, personal mental wellbeing etc.).

Using the spacious facilities at Wesley Methodist Church in West Bromwich (polled by the BBC to be the second-most deprived town in England), we want to bring people together through music and art, but we need your help!

In order to purchase the equipment needed to operate our events, we are looking to raise around £10,000. This would put us in a position where we can start running local events immediately, with the long-term goal of changing lives and expanding the scope of what we are able to offer to young people in the local and surrounding areas as our project develops.

As we are also looking to teach art alongside music, we have also compiled a list of artistic equipment such as pens, paints, ample paper, easels, pencils and plasticine. On top of this, we will use some of the money invested to expand our marketing capabilities. This will include things such as banners, flyers and event tables which will give us the scope to run promotional events away from the facilities themselves in collaboration with other organisations. I hope this clarifies things, but if anyone wants to know more feel free to ask

In the first instance, we are looking to purchase keyboards, string instruments (in sizes to suit all age groups), woodwind instruments, guitars and percussion instruments that will allow us to cater for group events of up to 30 people at a time in afternoon events. All of these will allow us to familiarise young people with the qualities of each instrumental family. As well as this, we are also looking to purchase upgraded audio equipment and things such as a music-stave whiteboard, books for our students to use and stationary etc.
