    Story

On July 27th at 5:00PM we will have 24 hours to raise as much money as possible for Move On, as part of the RBS Anniversary Challenge. In order to do this we will embark on a 50 mile walk from Glasgow Central Station to Edinburgh. We will be walking through the night to really bring alive the sleeping rough theme and will provide updates via social media.

When you’re homeless, you’re not just without a home. You have no engagement with the financial system, you’re physical/mental health suffers and you may turn to drink or drugs. The networks you maintain only serve to deepen your ties with a part of your life you wish would quickly pass and you still feel as though you face the world alone. Any ambitions, aspirations, or goals, that you once had, are now a distant memory because nobody believes in you, and you don’t believe in yourself.

The light at the end of the tunnel
Move On is the light at the end of a very dark tunnel, and is, for many, the only possible way that they can turn their lives around. Spare change and sausage rolls might allow homeless people to get by, but it will not make a sustainable difference. Move On embeds the “teach a man to fish” philosophy through employability activity, education, money/debt advice, mentoring, and volunteering and employability opportunity.

Move On delivers outcome-focused services, seeking to maximise the impact of what they do rather than simply seeing the activities as an end in themselves. Their services enable people to: help themselves, grow in confidence, secure and sustain accommodation, build positive social networks, develop employability skills and access and sustain jobs, training and education.

Please, Please, Please give as generously as you can to this great cause.
