Story
After being badgered, cajoled and generally harassed by a particular individual, 8 of us here at Rushbond have now signed up for the Jane Tomlinson 10K Run for All on Sunday 10th July! Some of us need a little bit more training than others but with the realisation that there is now no escape, we are all (kind-of) raring to go!! Georgina Maud,Jo Elliott,Michelle Green,Antony Rosindale,Mark Finch,Mark Whitehead & Richard Gough together with our team captain Nikki Williams complete the Team Rushbond ‘squad’.
It is a truly inspirational event & a legacy from a truly inspirational woman, raising much needed finances for a whole range of organisations. This year we have chosen to support two charities, Meanwood Valley Urban Farm & York Mind.
Meanwood Valley Urban Farm (http://www.mvuf.org.uk/) is a registered charity established in 1980 which provides services to inner city communities. From humble beginnings operating from two caravans, the Farm has grown into a 24 acre site, not only offering a working farm but now a major centre for community and environmental work. Their Engage ReConnect Project, aimed at young people aged between 13-16 yrs who were disengaged from education and at risk of long-term social exclusion, is one of a range of fantastic programmes they offer along with holiday playschemes, foundation learning to the young unemployed, programmes for adults with learning difficulties and providing allotments for local people.
York Mind (https://www.yorkmind.org.uk/) is an independent provider of high quality mental health services in the City of York and its surrounding area. Their wide range of services help individuals recover from a variety of mental health conditions, helping people achieve outcomes towards recovery, social inclusion and integration in mainstream activities. They work to raise awareness of mental ill health and to combat the stigma that can surround such conditions is hugely important to the communities within which they work.
