In April 2015, 9 gymnasts from Scarborough Gymnastics Academy were selected for the Northern Zonal TeamGym Squad. The aim of the Northern and Southern squads being to train a group of talented gymnasts from across the UK with the ultimate aim of being selected for the GB Squad. The selected gymnasts in the GB squad will compete in the upcoming European Championships which will take place in Slovenia in October 2016.

On the 3rd May we received the fantastic news that 5 of the clubs gymnasts had been selected and are now one step closer to becoming a member of Team GB for 2016. The gymnasts have been attending regular squad training camps across the North of England as well as continuing their regular training programme at SGA to ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming challenge. This last twelve months has been a huge commitment for the gymnasts, the coaches at SGA and the parents, the intense training and financial commitment has been difficult at times but everyone has pulled together to ensure the gymnasts can continue in their quest for GB selection.

We really need your help to support these gymnasts to get them to Slovenia. The gymnasts will be attending further training camps at a cost of around £400 each and if the gymnasts are selected for the final GB teams there will be a cost of £1000 per gymnast. Teamgym is not a funded discipline in the UK therefore we really need your help to get our gymnasts there.

This is the biggest event in Teamgym and will be a fantastic experience for all. Everyone at SGA is very proud of the gymnasts, its a great honour for the local gymnasts to be taking part in such an important international event.
