Dear North London friends – especially those whose small children love the BALLPOOL and play area at SNUG (formerly Passion Café and Restaurant).

Two days ago a fire in a flat above the café resulted in major damage to the café and its closure. Arson is suspected and an arrest was made. The roof of the building was destroyed, the café was flooded by the water used to put out the fire and there is no electricity. All food stock was lost. The unique décor by Italian designer, Walter Picardi, was also severely damaged. Ania Chojnacka, the owner/manager, has been advised it could take months to refurbish and reopen.

The café opened as ‘Passion’ on 23 April 2014, becoming SNUG in December 2015. During that time Ania has taken only 3 days of holiday in total, at Christmas time. Any other closure days were for renovations and redecoration. The closure is terrible news for Ania, having worked so hard for so long to make SNUG the marvelous place that it is now.

It's also very bad news for parents of toddlers. I'm sure you'll agree that Ania’s SNUG cafe has been a welcoming oasis for all of us one way or another.
