We are a team of young pupils from Kenton School in Newcastle who have been working exceptionally hard every night after school on our competition entry into the F1 in Schools Challenge.
We are all interested in pursuing a career in engineering and have thoroughly enjoyed this experience so far.
Working as 'Team United' we have designed a miniature F1 car on Autodesk software, built it on a CNC Machine and 3D printer (with help from Nissan) and created a pit display, portfolio and a presentation of our work.
After nearly two years working on our project we got through to the national finals which were held at Silverstone in April. We were lucky enough to win these heats and so are now representing the UK in the international finals in October.
This final competition will be held in Texas. Neither us as individuals or our school have the funds to send us there so we are reliant on sponsorship and fundraising to get us to the finals. Some of us have never left the country before and most haven't been to America. This will be an amazing, life changing experience plus we hope to do the UK proud!
