    Story

In April 2016 Rory Coleman returned from the Sahara after his 13th completion of the Marathon des Sables and was nearing his 1,000th marathon. He has been in great health for many years coaching, inspiring and helping hundreds of people to achieve their own health and fitness ambitions. Within days of returning Rory became unwell and unable to walk, it was discovered he had developed a very rare illness Guillain-Barré syndrome which affects only 1-2 in 100,000 people, the immune system attacks the nervous system paralysing its victims and can take months or even years to recover.
Sadly since this video below Rory's condition has worsened and he has been diagnosed with CIDP too (google) & been re-admitted to hospital and is likely to stay for a long period.

Rory's career revolves around running and coaching which of course cannot continue for the foreseeable future. His wife Jen is at the time of me writing this 36 weeks pregnant with their second child, a new sibling to little Jack who Jen has to care for as well as giving 24/7 care for Rory who has to sleep on a bed downstairs unable to walk.

With no income coming in whilst bills and care costs mount up, life for the family is fast becoming very desperate with many years of expensive treatment ahead and ongoing physio still essential to Rory's long and difficult recovery.
Any possible support big or small will be incredible and a huge help to relieve the financial worries adding to this already terrible situation.

This story was run several weeks ago when recovery looked a little more positive. I truly hope things pick up again and we can help see Rory and family through this awful time. http://www.itv.com/news/wales/2016-06-10/world-class-runner-left-unable-to-walk-after-rare-condition-says-he-will-beat-it/

Holly's story here shows there is hope but the journey is long and difficult: https://youtu.be/huN8iIWXNCs

    Many, many thanks!
