Story
I'm planning a trip to The Jungle with my friend Tashita Jonzales. The Jungle - a refugee slum camp near Calais housing 3,500 migrants. They are mainly men although there are some women and children, some of whom are seperated from their parents. Various agencies are working to distribute resources there. I am planning a trip taking some of the most desperately needed things such as men's clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, blankets, shoes, hygiene and medical supplies, cooking pots and stoves.

9 years agoThe crowdfunder has ended and the total is £4365! In addition we have been given approximately £1500 from Totnes Concert, £1270 plus 800 euros from the collection at Exeter and various other monies including proceeds from the Totnes Jumble for the Jungle. We have decided to provide two fully winterised UNHCR standard tents to be called Exeter and Totnes and to split the rest of the money, after deducting reasonable expenses for transport and storage, between L'Auberge des Migrants and Doctors of the World, two of the hardworking volunteer run charities in The Jungle. In addition we have collected three containers and a barn full of warm clothes and tents which will be transported to Calais in early November. I have been totally overwhelmed with the response - many thanks to everyone who has helped us make life a little better for the refugees. We will be producing a full report and statement shortly. The picture is of a hat given to us by a little girl for a refugee. THANK YOU!!!

9 years agoThis is no longer just about the camp at Calais but about all of the terrified people trying to reach a place of safety. We will now try to help where the need is greatest not only Calais. Please keep giving.
