    Story

We're going to do The Manchester 10k in wheelchairs based on a Segway, so we're using our cores - endurance is still involved!

    Why? Well:

All over the Manchester disabled people are stuck inside their homes because of the cuts to funding for out of the house care; some disabled people no longer have access to a supported social life. We want to hold a weekly community drama group for disabled people where if needed they will receive the support from their home to the theatre and their return. We want to give people back a little bit of their identity, a focus, an enjoyable experience whilst improving confidence. Everyone has the right to social interaction but for a lot of disabled people with the government cuts this right has been taken away.
Theatre is a powerful tool which can increase confidence, self expression, it provides social interaction and is thoroughly enjoyable. We want to provide those disabled people who currently have little or no connection with their community in Manchester a link to social interaction. Manchester city council is one of the hardest hit and currently our disabled peers with high support needs are only being provided with care to be washed, dressed and fed, no help with food shopping, clothes washing, house work let alone any social interaction, Triple C want to help ensure disabled people aren't merely existing in Manchester as prisoners in their own homes, We want to offer a way to engage with our community, something which restores a sense of self in a world where most rights have been taken away.
Please help us support our disabled peers whilst the government isn't.
