    Story

Walking The West Highland Way is long, tough and shouldn’t be taken lightly when considering doing the full route; it also happens to be a wonderful experience by most accounts.

I'll set-off to Walk The Way (taking six days to complete it) for the first time on Saturday 27th of August 2016, with a tent, some food and water, a goal of creating the need for a few extra notches in my belt, but most importantly I'll be doing it to raise money for a campaign as beautiful as the trail itself: TIE!

Too often I hear stories from my kids about how they've either been the target of or personally witnessed homophobic bullying and it's a problem that precious few teachers have seemed to know how to handle. It’s worrying and upsetting to see your child treated like an outsider by other children based on sexuality and it must change.

I searched last year for some hope of this problem being addressed through the education of LGBT+ issues in Scottish schools and was overwhelmed with appreciation and hope when I found the TIE campaign.

Jordan Daly and Liam Stevenson have been campaigning endlessly for over a year now to bring this issue to light and to change the way our children hear about LGBT+ issues in school: with care, sensitivity and openness.

Please take a look at the campaign’s website - http://www.tiecampaign.co.uk/ - and read about how it can help our children and make a brighter future for all.

Jordan and Liam have been working tirelessly with schools and with the Scottish government and I want to give something back to them.

I’m asking you to sponsor me anything you can, no matter the amount, as I dedicate this walk to a great cause that has much work to do. Every penny will go to the TIE campaign and help as it moves forward.

I've chosen JustGiving as it's safe and secure and they won't forward your details on.

Please help however you can. X

The hope TIE is bringing to Scotland, that will spread beyond, reminds me that humanity has a lot going for it. You've all called-out to children & said you are here for them & are going to fight for them. I think you're all brilliant and when I do this walk, no matter how hard it might be on my feet, I'll be walking on a cloud & thinking of you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me to help Liam & Jordan and their campaign. All my love X P.S. Thank you to the media for letting these wonderful people know X

I've just gotten back from a wonderful area of Scotland with no more than very slow GPRS as a means of getting online & at first I've had to confirm that I was looking at the correct page. You are all incredible! The generosity & support shown toward the TIE campaign here is nothing short of soul-stirring. The inefficacy of words means I can't fully tell you how this has touched me. You've all called-out to children everywhere & said that no matter who they are, you support them, giving when you didn't have to & when you couldn't.

Neil, when your boy grows into a man he is going to be SO proud of his Dad. Maybe as proud as his Dad obviously is of him now! What an exceptional man you are - an absolute **star**!
