We are trying to raise £500 for each of the six families that live in local authority housing in Wanstead. The fire ripped through the block at 2am this morning luckily all families escaped. The family most impacted are two elderly people who are both bed bound with dementia. They have 40% and 19% carbon monoxide poisoning and are in hospital. Another family is a foster home for young children, another family are on holiday and are unaware of the fire and another family has small children.
Whilst everyone got out alive they have been left with only the nightclothes they have on their backs, have not been able to salvage any personal items or money and have been left with nothing.
We are hoping with a bit of community spirit we can raise enough money for clothes and food for the families whilst new accommodation is found for the 6 families of this devastating fire and hope in some way the children this has affected are safe and can enjoy their summer holidays to some extent.
