Cafodd Pennaeth Gwyddoniaeth Ysgol Ardudwy newyddion drwg a thrist iawn ar ddiwedd mis Ionawr 2016 bod ei brawd yng nghyfraith, Carwyn Edwards, yn dioddef o Endocardidtis Heintiol yn y gwaed. Ers hynny mae Carwyn wedi cael 7 llawdriniaeth mewn 7 wythnos.

Mae Carwyn yn brwydro yn erbyn y salwch yn yr UDA ac mae'r costau meddygol yn anferthol. Er bod ganddo yswiriant meddygol, dim ond 85% o'r costau bydd yr yswiriant yn talu, rhaid i Carwyn dalu am y gweddill. Mae'r teulu yn ymgyrchu i godi £100,000 er mwyn talu am driniaeth a gwellhad Carwyn yn ogystal â chael Carwyn gartref.

Why?

The Head of Science at Ysgol Ardudwy had some very sad news in January 2016 that her brother in law was suffering from Infective Endocarditis, which is a bacterial infection in the blood that settled on his mitral heart valve. This has led to him having his left leg amputated above the knee and he has also lost part of his lower right leg. The clots have also seriously damaged his kidneys and spleen and he is presently on constant dialysis. The clots found their way into his brain causing lesions and hemorrhaging. This brain injury is delaying the open heart surgery that he needs to replace his heart valve.

Carwyn has his own medical insurance that covers 85% of his medical expenses, but he will be responsible for the other 15%. Carwyn will need money for his rehabilitation and to pay for his return to the United Kingdom. It will be a long time before he can work and sustain himself; therefore, he will need a lot of support.
