Story
As captain of Castle Cary Cricket Club, I see first hand the state of our current netting facilities. At the moment, they are not suitable for young children to practice and learn the game of cricket. The standard of our senior training at the moment is also not where it should be.
As a club, our aim over the next few years is to re-introduce the youth setup to Castle Cary cricket. It was thriving up until a few years ago but due to a lack of coaching and facilities it was abandoned in 2013. Around 50% of our current senior players were produced by the club and it would be great to see it producing young players again.
We are hoping to have funds in place to allow the building of the nets to be completed before the start of the new cricket season in May.
The club is aiming to raise £10000 to redevelop the nets to a fantastic standard for the local community. This money will give us new ground foundation, two new playing surfaces, a new framework and potentially a rolling, portable net too.
