Story
This page has been set up to raise funds for Chance and Hope, the mare and filly rescued from Coney Lane on Tuesday 10th of May.
They are now in a safe place where they have 24hr care with experienced people. They have been seen to by vets who are concerned about a number of things.
Through this page, we will raise funds for vet bills, possible remedial shoeing, callout fees etc. The money will be going straight to vets where it will be held there to pay for current and future bills, and we will post proof of this once we have reached our goal.
MORE ABOUT THE SITUATION THEY WERE REMOVED FROM:
On Sunday the 8th May, at approximately 6pm a foal was spotted entangled in electric fencing. A group of us went over to help the foal and successfully managed to untangle him. Shortly after, we spotted a young mare also entangled in the electric fencing. As well a foal and a yearling with heavy-weight rugs on that were dripping in sweat. It was clear looking at the horses that surrounded us, that they were all in poor condition. We walked over to the barn to be hit by a stench that I can't put into words. Only to turn the corner and see a dead young colt thrown into a corner, simply rotting away. After discovering five emaciated horses, one including a mare with a filly a foot (Chance & Hope), we also discovered that none of them had any hay or water and were knee deep in their own muck. After countless phone calls to the police, vets and numerous welfare companies, the police and an RSPCA welfare officer came to the scene. We were asked to leave the scene and let them deal with it so we did. The police confiscated some evidence.
Since then we have been fighting hard as a group to remove these horses, Chance & Hope being the main priority. We haven't had any help from the authorities on this but came to an agreement with their owner.

8 years agoLittle Hope is doing well but she is to have dressings on her back hooves due to the sores from walking on her heels frown emoticon. The good news is they can can have half an hour turnout a day.

8 years agoThe vet visited today and discussed the hard large lump we had been concerned about on Chance which turns out this is a bone callous and as first thought is from a break/fracture and he thinks she has broke her radius at some point and the scar at the front is linked to it.

8 years agoUpdate: Want to make it clear this money is a 'thank you' to the people who have taken them on, not necessary to pay bills. The money will be going directly to vets. Vets have said both horses are in a bad way, too much to write here but they are on the mend & so much happier.
