Chimbota Secondary School was founded in 2012 near Nkhata Bay, Malawi, in an area of the country where opportunities for secondary education were scarce.

The school runs on generous donations and is currently not self-sufficient financially - should the main donors withdraw, the school would be forced to close.

I will be volunteering there until June and have planned various projects, including a storytelling project which will be run in parallel with a school in London.

Your donations will help with:

-Building a maize mill for the students' use, as well as for the nearby communities: this will save a day long trip to the nearest town to get maize ground.

-Bursaries: £35 cover a term and £150 cover a year school fees for a student.

-Textbooks: £5 is the average price of a textbook and £200 will buy enough school books for a year for a class.

-Teachers' salaries: at the moment the fees charged to the students are not sufficient to cover these.

-A school trip to reward students who are excelling academically.

La scuola secondaria Chimbota e` stata fondata nel 2012 vicino a Nkhata Bay, Malawi, un'area dove le opportunita` di proseguire nell'educazione secondaria erano scarse.

La scuola si affida interamente a donazioni di privati - se i principali donatori si dovessero ritirare dal progetto, la scuola chiuderebbe i battenti il giorno dopo.

Faro` volontariato li` fino a giugno 2018 e ho pianificato alcune attivita`, tra cui un progetto di scrittura che verra` perseguito in parallelo con una scuola di Londra.

Le vostre donazioni aiuteranno con:

-La costruzione di una macina per il mais, cosa che risparmiera` un viaggio fino alla citta` piu` vicina, che al momento occupa un giorno intero.

-Borse di studio: £35 pagano un quadrimestre e £150 un anno di scuola per uno studente.

-Libri: £5 è il prezzo medio di un libro di testo e £200 comprano libri sufficienti per una classe per un anno.

-Stipendi degli insegnanti: al momento le rette degli studenti non sono sufficienti a coprirli.

-Una gita per premiare gli studenti con risultati accademici eccellenti.
