Dear friends! Thank you so much for your generous help! I have just ordered the portable slit lamp, a slightly more suitable model than the one I had in mind first. This one runs on batteries (and hence does not depend on continuous mains for recharging) and has a variable slit height. It costs £3,000 (+ VAT if I can't escape it) so I will have only a slight shortfall to make up. For fundus camera, a very good iPhone adapter is coming on the market soon so I will wait for that. It's only less than 3 weeks before Anja and me are flying out, and still quite a lot of preparations to make. We will get some facebook posts out during and after our trip so watch the space.
