In 2010 I travelled with my husband and friends to help and visit the various Balwadi Schools (Balwadi is an Indian pre-school run for economically weaker sections of the society, either by government or NGOs.) which are in based in the cities various slum areas. We met the children who attended the schools, their teachers and were able to see first-hand the impact this charity has on the children. They are fed a hot meal which for many it is likely their only of the day, taught and cared for during their time at the schools. I choose this charity because I know and believe in the people who run it and have seen the amazing work they do.
