My beautiful friend Louise Hartley was diagnosed with a very rare type of ovarian cancer in March this year.
After having a large mass tumour and an ovary removed in March, she was then diagnosed with Small Cell Cancer of the ovary, Hypercalcemic type.
There have only ever been 500 known cases in the world. This extremely aggressive cancer is difficult to treat because there is little research on it.
Chemotherapy was ineffective in preventing the cancer spreading.
Louise's family conducted their own research and decided that immunotherapy was the best course of action.
Unfortunately this treatment is not licensed for ovarian cancer so Louise's family and friends are paying over £3000 per treatment every three weeks.

On Wednesday 22nd June I will cycle from Haugh of Urr to Ingliston, Edinburgh for the Royal Highland Show, an event Louise and I have worked and socialised at together many times in the past.
I will then make the return journey after the show.
