    Story

David is 55 years old, non smoker and very rare drinker. Not overweight and regularly walked his dogs for exercise.
He has worked all his life including serving in The Queens Lancashire Regiment for his country. He paid his dues.
He is an avid Burnley fan.
On 9th April 2016 at 1.25pm he suffered a stroke at home while watching Burnley V Leeds. He now struggles to understand or speak language. The last words David voluntarily spoke for himself were "Come on Burnley" after Burnley scored and were winning 1- nil.
The Stroke was followed by a pulmonary embolism and blood clots throughout the chambers of his heart. But he survived - because he is strong!
When he comes out of Rehab the therapy he receives is going to be greatly reduced. The physiotherapy as well as the speech therapy.
Nobody can tell us anything or how or if he will recover because every stroke is different.
The pain, the shock, the aftermath, the effects of all of this are devastating for everyone close to him including his friends and family.
So we are not giving up!
With your help his quality of life WILL not stop on his release from hospital, it will just begin!
David is suffering from severe aphasia and apraxia and needs INTENSE speech therapy to overcome it. Which means he cannot communicate easily, but he tries. His right side is paralysed. For now.
This page is to help raise some funds to put towards all the specialist therapy he needs.
Friends are offering to organise events and get sponsors for activities etc. Thankyou so much.

Please help us to help David not only find his feet but his voice again
