Weʼve raised £1,901 to fund the refurbishment of the tearoom and buy a new mobile net for Denby CC.

    Story

We're off for a walk or three: leaving the cricket club early on Sunday 17th July, driving up to Ben Nevis, walking up and down, driving to Scafell Pike in the lakes, up and down that, driving to Snowden, ditto, and then driving back to the club to play in, umpire and score the u15s game, and maybe have a drink.

That's 953 miles of driving, (the hardest bit?) and nearly 24 miles of walking, including 3064 metres of climbing. All in 36 hours. Easy!

We need the funds to put in a new kitchen (current one very dilapidated), and buy a new mobile cricket cage and net (current one falling to bits).

Pud (Andrew Pickford) reckons he might be able to raise a grand by himself, just by being the most popular postie in West Yorkshire, but the rest of us are probably going to find it easiest to ask people to contribute via this page.

Please give generously: the club really needs the money. Many other cricket clubs would be able to pay for such improvements through their fees for junior players. In contrast to this, all outdoor cricket at Denby costs just the £3 paid to join at the start of the season. We want this to carry on being the case.

We did it! It hurt, but we did it! Snowdon and Scafell Pike in lovely sunshine, Ben Nevis in the bitter cold with driving rain: feet sloshing about in wet boots. Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far: we're well on the way to reaching our target on this page and with Pud's efforts and other cash we should be nearing our overall target of £3000. And thanks to our two amazing drivers: Mann and Lloyd. We couldn't have done it without you. Here's a photo from the top of the first peak conquered, Snowdon.
