The first and strongest typhoon to strike Taiwan in more than half a century, typhoon Nepartak began its destruction on Friday, hitting the eastern county of Taitung with winds up to 234 km/h (145 mph). Two people tragically lost their lives, as the super typhoon ravaged this small island nation. More than 70 are injured, many with devastating injuries to their head and limbs from falling glass. A terrifying experience with more than 15,000 people permanently evacuated from their homes which were prone to landslides or flooding.

Every donation to this fund will support relief efforts and disaster recovery in response to the region of Taiwan impacted by this Typhoon. Initially, we will use the fund to help responders meet their immediate need for food, shelter, clean water, fuel, and hygienic products. Our aim is to raise $5,000 -$10,000 so that we will be able to forward most of the funds to local NGOs lacking the connections to raise money from outside Taiwan. We want the money to be directed to the local NGOs because they can easily connect better with the affected communities.
