    Story

UPDATE: I am one of Bernard's sons.

Firstly, thank you for the kind words and comments, as with the outpouring elsewhere, much appreciated.

However, the family would like to request that you direct donations to the Jo Cox site and add the following wording to your page:

"PLEASE NOTE THE FAMILY OF BERNARD KENNY HAVE REQUESTED ALL DONATIONS MADE TO THIS PAGE BE DIVERTED TO THE JO COX FUND. I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO REQUEST THEIR WISHES SO BE AWARE OF THIS IF YOU CHOOSE TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION"

I trust I can count on your support to make these changes, and, again, thank you for your words of support. Kind Regards, Mark.

WE ARE OF COURSE HAPPY TO FOLLOW THE WISHES OF MR KENNY AND HIS FAMILY.

You can still donate here or go directly to the Jo Cox page https://www.gofundme.com/jocox?1

    -------------------------------

Bernard Kenny, 77, went to the aid of Jo Cox when she was brutally attacked June 16 Sadly Jo died within hours of the attack. She is survived by a husband and two young children.

Mr Kenny sustained serious stab wounds in the attack but was released from hospital this week.

The Daily Mirror reports "Fearless Bernard Kenny, 77, was stabbed in the abdomen with a 10-inch blade as he tackled Jo’s armed attacker. He watched in horror as she fell to the floor in a pool of her own blood - then ran from his car in a desperate, last ditch bid to save her life.

But he was hit by the blade which pierced his liver, narrowly missing his heart and other major organs.Eyewitnesses told how the retired mine rescue worker indicated to his wife that he was ‘okay’ as he lay on the ground wounded."

There are calls that he should be awarded the George Cross for his bravery.

Wednesday June 22, 2016, Jo and her family should have been celebrating her 42nd birthday; a fitting day to start this fund page for Hero Mr Kenny who coincidentally shares the same birthday.

    He turned 78.
