Weʼve raised £5,010 to replace freezer, fridges (& some stock)

    Story

On 26 December 2015 after unprecedented sustained rainfall, the centre of Hebden Bridge was flooded. Water from the River Calder, mixed with drain water, inundated the little town - famous for its small independent shops. When the water retreated it left a thick silt of brown mud in its wake and tide-marks halfway up shop windows. Although we had moved stock up higher, it just was not high enough. We lost about £15k of stock. After floods in 2012 we were unable to get insurance.

      Update from the Page owner

WE’RE BACK! Thanks to all who donated money and those who gave their time too. It was very generous of Ground Floor Project at Salem Mill to let us use their space as a temp shop, but we are so happy to be back at 31 Market Street: it’s where we belong! We bought a swish new double fronted display chiller and a super eco freezer, and have installed some ‘flood resilience’ measures with left over money. There are two rows of empty shelving all around top of the shop to move stock from the bottom shelves to in the event of a flood warning, and we are investigating waterproof bags to roll the fridges into. Thank you again for helping us bounce back #hebdenrising

Again, thanks to all who have donated so far. We have been told we may qualify for match funding (if there is enough left in the pot) up to 5th Feb, so keep spreading the word to double the money :-)
