War, trouble with gangs, a lack of economic opportunities, as well as the desire for cheap labour in Mexico and the U.S, has created one of the most infamous migration routes in history.

Central Americans, particularly those from Honduras and El Salvador, have long since been fleeing their home countries to Mexico out of the sheer will of survival, and hope of leading a better life.

Often it is so that they have no alternative other then to flee, yet no means of sustaining themselves once in receiving countries.

One of the only means of support Central American refugees receive is the help from NGO's such as Tochan, who provide food, a bed, psychological and medical care, as well as support in legal processes for acquiring papers to work and stay in Mexico.

During my stay there I met boys as young as 15, business owners, chefs, handymen, and singers, all in a position where to return home was not an option, yet starting a new life in Mexico was slow and at times seemingly impossible.

I was continuously inspired by the stories and bravery of people that I met there, and could see the difficulty of what it really meant to live a life in transition.

All donations will go toward sustaining the shelter; i.e food, the 5 peso (20p) allowance to take the metro, aid in acquiring papers.

The work of Tochan is vital as it provides people, who would otherwise have nothing, with the possibility of starting again.
