Story
My name is George pollard, I am 23 yrs old and I am currently waiting for a heart transplant. When I was 16 I collapsed on New Year's Eve and woke up mid January and found out my life had changed forever. I was told by the doctors that I had Rare form of cardiomyopathy called arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy for short a.r.v.c and went on to have an i.c.d fitted in April of that year. Along my journey I have suffered many problems and gradually I have got worse and now my only option is a heart transplant. I have actively been on the list since May And am told it could take years to get a heart and possibly die before I do. I Have a wonderful wife and 2 year old son and determined to see my son grow up. I currently attend harefield hospital and it is an absolutely fantastic hospital that saves many lives and they are in desperate need for a new ward so that they can continue to do an amazing job and save many more people. If they manage to raise what they need they will then have the facilities to help and extra 250 patients a year. As unbelievable as it is, just the equipment needed around one bed in a intensive therapy unit costs £64,550 what ever we can raise will go towards that and help a brilliant hospital save many people's lives. The thing with life is it is very unpredictable and you never no what's around the corner and we all end up in situations we never imagined we would be in. Please consider what this money could do for so many people not just the patients but all the people who are affected like there families, friends etc because I can personally say that going threw this experience is hard as it is but to watch what it does to those around you who you love and care about is just as awful if not more so. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story and I hope you can help. Even the smallest gestures mean more than you will ever know to someone like me. It takes 2 mins to save 9 lives by joining the organ donation register.
