    Story

Refugees arriving on the tiny Greek island of Leros, arrive shocked and traumatised by their often horrific journey from Turkey. Many of them will have spent days on a small rocky outcrop island nearby without food or drink waiting to be collected and brought to Leros. Before they are processed by the Port Police, they are "imprisoned" with no access to anything for up to 2 or 3 days, this is where you can help-the volunteers provide basic food and 1st aid to men, women and children.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank everyone for your support, it has been truly overwhelming. I understand that just giving now go about collecting the donations, and as soon as I have received them- it will be transferred immediately to the volunteer team on Leros. The situation is ongoing and I will continue to try to raise funds as well as keep the Facebook site updated with what's going on as it has been forgotten about by our media in the U.K. Thank you again, you will make such a difference. As you may know- the situation on the island is worsening with torrential rain, the authorities running out of money and an increasing number of arrivals who couldn't afford the smugglers high summer fares. Thank you.

I was just a holiday maker on the island, but was left speechless by what I saw and experienced in the refugee camp. I gave what time I could to help, but that didn't seem even enough. You can read more about my experience on the Facebook page Leros Solidarity Network Team UK
