    Story

Johnathon McHale aged 19 died on January 7th 2016 when he tragically ended up on the M1 motorway at Newport Pagnell services. Sadly our son Johnathon took his own life due to a break down in his relationship which happened a few days earlier. The sudden shock and loss for his friends and family is difficult to live with, and we are all left with a huge hole in our hearts as well as many unanswered questions. The ripple has affected many of those who knew Johnathon and continued beyond.

Sadly, although the bridge is where Johanthon died it is not the best place for him to be remembered. It is not a peaceful place and made worse knowing what happened. Johnathon's friends and family need a more appropriate place to visit. His family are giving Johnathon a permanent marker in Tickford Cemetery in Newport Pagnell this is to help his friends and extended family visit him as his ashes are currently at home. The bench is for his friends to sit with him and reflect without cars and wagons going by. We are placing the bench in his name opposite his memorial.

Johnathon was born and lived in Newport Pagnell all his life. He never wanted to leave the place he loved and the friends he had made here. It will be befitting of the young man he was. A caring and loving son and a great friend to many.

The bench including the placement and rental of space for 10 years costs £1500, another £1500 will be donated to SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide). A worthy voluntary organisation helping those who have been left behind in this devastating way. Many of the volunteers themselves suffering a loss. The rest will go to Johnathons memorial stone.

Prior to this just under £500 was raised in Johnathon's name during his funeral. The family would like to thank everyone who contributed to this at the time. The money was donated to Willen Hospice another worthy cause.

Please donate if you can. Johnathon needs a peaceful place to be with his friends. Thank you. x

We would like to thank everyone who donated towards Johnathon's bench fund. It is now in place in Tickford Cemetery in Newport Pagnell and we hope his friends & family find more comfort there unlike the M1 bridge. Our job is not complete so a memorial for Johnathon will be placed along with the bench in the next month or two. Both will be a befitting remeberance of our son. Living without our boy is the hardest thing to do and facing each day is a serious challenge. It's friends and family that keep us going, so we thank you all. xxx

Last day for donations on this page. Thank you to everyone who has shared and donated to our page or otherwise. The support shown by many is greatly appreciated and words don't go far enough to express our gratitude at a time when we need all the help on offer. This is not the end and we will continue to raise funds in Johnathon's name were we can with the help of others. Thanks to everyone. John & Debbie xx

Omg almost hit the target. We can certainly sort the bench for Johnathons friends so they have a peaceful place to visit him. £1500 will go to SOBS ,and as we know many still wish to donate, we are going to put that toward Johnathons memorial in Town as requested. Thank you all X
