Jonah was diagnosed with Leukaemia in June 2014. His cancer was aggressive and as a result he underwent a bone marrow transplant in Bristol in November 2014. Jonah has been recovering well and is now attending college and learning to drive. Unfortunately however Jonah was recently diagnosed with another unrelated yet potentially devastating illness known as aHUS, an ultra rare blood disease effecting first the kidneys and other organs.

Jonah's heart function recently deteriorated whilst he was on plasma exchange to prevent further damage to his kidneys. He is now on a medication called Eculizumab (Solaris) which is the only available treatment for this condition. The States of Guernsey have funded this for 12 weeks only as a "rescue remedy" to temporarily improve the heart condition. However, Jonah's final treatment is on the 31st December 2015. After this no alternative is being offered by the States of Guernsey as yet.

With Eculizumab Jonah will be able to live a relatively normal life on Island. He will be able to continue with his studies and ultimately be a fully functioning, working member of the community. He will require one appointment every two weeks at the local hospital where the drug could be administered by a nurse during a short appointment. Please give whatever you can spare.
