Story
I work at XP secondary school in Doncaster and am hoping to raise enough money to purchase a defibrillator for school. It is something I've always felt should be put into every school. However in August, this will become vital. One of our new year 7 students has a life threatening heart problem and so this has now gone from being a great thing to have in school just incase anything ever happens, to something that we need.
With the heart condition he has, there are many things that could cause his heart to stop working properly. The first few minutes when this happens are the most important and could really be a matter of life or death. If his heart can be restarted in this time he has a great chance of recovery, if not, then his chances of survival reduce by 70% Can you imagine as a parent having to worry about this every day, having the strength and courage to still let your child live their life and have the best opportunity in life.
The young man will have to get 2 buses to school and back and then carry his portable defibrillator with him all day. If for any reason he forgets this or leaves it at school, his life could be in danger. If we can raise the money and get one for the school, we can take it on fieldwork, residentials. It may save his life, it may save someone elses.
Unbelieveably with government funding we can purchase one for just less than £550, please give any amount that you can afford to this massively worthwhile cause. We will be doing events to raise money ourselves but meanwhile please please please donate if you can.
Thankyou for your time in reading this, hopefully for your thoughts afterwards and a massive thankyou if you have given money towards the difibrillator. xxxxx
