Millie is our beautiful, happy and loving 4 year old daughter who's world and everyone's close to her was quickly turned upside down. After weeks of being unwell and various trips to the GP and our local hospital Millie was finally diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma in June last year. By diagnosis it had already spread so far around her little body it was classed as stage 4, which meant the beginning of a very intense treatment programme. She has overcome so much these past 10 months and we recently got the long awaited news that she is now in remission. We are absolutely overjoyed with this but the dreaded fear of relapse has now stepped in.
The reality is that 60-80% of children who have already fought off this nasty disease will have a reaccurance in the following few years. These are not chances we would be happy to see out, which is why we have began fundraising now for further preventative treatment. This treatment is available only in the USA as part of an ongoing trial. The trial drug is called DFMO and the results so far are very encouraging.
Millie will only be eligible within 120 days of her treatment ending here in the UK which is looking to be early September this year so the pressure is well and truly on to reach our target.
So many fundraisers have already taken place and many more to come. We can't thank everyone who is taking the time and effort to help enough. We are forever grateful to you all. Each and every donation takes us one step closer to giving our beautiful daughter the bright future she so deserves.. You can't put a price on that.
