Megan who is nearly 19 years old is totally wheelchair bound and it completely unable to walk. She relies on her powered wheelchair 24 hours a day and has used a wheelchair since she was around 8 years old. Her condition FOP has fused her muscles together meaning she is unable to move her head, arms and legs fully. She is unable to use a manual chair as she is not able to turn the wheels with her hands.

A number of months ago her chair of 5 years old (which was second hand when we got it) broke and she was unable to move the chair and this meant she couldn't move around by herself, losing her independence. Luckily we managed to get the chair fixed the following day but it could have been a week or more if the part wasn't available.

Megan relies on her chair to keep her independence and when it broke we all realised how very important it is. As the chair is now getting older and they no longer produce this chair, parts are getting harder to get so therefore we need to get Megan a new one. Unfortunately powered wheelchairs cost a lot of money up to £15,000 and this is why we need help with raising these funds.
