Story
Raphael is an adult male swan, who has been spotted with a long piece of fishing line in his mouth and around his body. We managed to catch Raphael and were able to remove part of the entanglement. Unfortunately, it was not possible to remove the fishing line from Raphael’s throat safely and he has been brought straight to a veterinary surgery, where our suspicion has been confirmed that Raphael did swallow indeed a fishing hook. X-rays revealed the hook position and Raphael has been subsequently operated. The hook has been removed and after being monitored for a short while he has been successfully released back into his group.
Wild Bird Aid is an Isle of Wight based vegan run wild bird rescue specialising in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of native birds. Wild Bird Aid is an unregistered charity relying purely on kind donations from the public. Please help us to pay towards this bill.
