I am running the Paris Schneider Marathon to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation and a wonderful little boy called George Maloney, who's life has been forever changed by Meningitis. George contracted Group B strep bacterial meningitis at birth and as a result now has quadriplegic dystonic cerebral palsy. As a result his physical ability is very limited and it It is essential for his progression and development to have intensive physiotherapy on an ongoing basis.

George and his mum and dad have seen real improvements with his hands and his desire to learn and succeed is truly inspiring! He is such a happy boy and there is not a day that goes by without a smile on his face. His physiotherapy is fundamental and is a lifelong treatment to try and allow him to be the best he can physically be, however it is funded privately.

There are nearly 10 new cases of bacterial meningitis and septicaemia every day in the UK, affecting 100s of families every year.
Research, development and progression are continuous and the earlier this condition is caught and treated the more effective the treatments are. In Georges case the more treatment he has while he is still young the better the outcome, Ben and Jo are strong, amazing, dedicated parents who are constantly striving to do the best they can for George. They are seeing changes already and are devoted improving life for them all.

Specialist medical after care is one of the many unaccounted for costs and is estimated to be £800,000 so any small amount we can give to help George, his family and the Meningitis Research Foundation will be spent directly on George's treatment, research and supporting other families directly affected by MenB and septicaemia. The total estimated lifelong costs to age 70 are £3,039,000.
