I first heard of Jayne in January 2016, when a friend in Bristol posted the following link on Facebook. She called Jayne an inspiration to anyone who struggled with their weight, which is something I have done all my adult life.

I read Jayne's story and it resonated with me loud and clear. A diabetes sufferer, she was originally taking 10 tablets a day. Doctors identified that her condition was unstable and offered Gastric Banding Surgery. Jayne wanted to retrain her eating habits, so opted for losing weight at home. It was a long process, but she lost 20st through healthy eating and an incredible amount of willpower. Her diabetes has since been stable, controlled by diet rather than medication. She has maintained her loss for 3 years, despite being left with large amounts of excess skin. She underwent a successful operation to remove an apron of skin from her stomach in April. The NHS have since refused to fund removal of loose skin from her arms and legs, considering it a cosmetic procedure. This is far from the case, since the excess skin causes constant pain and irritation Jayne now needs to raise 12,000 pounds to go private.

I've spoken to often her about my own battles. Although I have less to lose, I found myself struggling to get motivated. She encouraged me to rejoin a slimming club I used to attend, and go back to the gym. I've since lost 9.5lbs in 9 weeks, and am surprised to find myself toning up already. She is an inspiration, I want to thank her for believing in me. I've decided to embark on a sponsored slim to raise 400 pounds towards her surgery fund. I currently weigh 15st 2lbs and have set a target of 11st 7lbs, a loss of 3st 9lbs. Any sponsorship donation would be most gratefully received. It's for a great cause!
